Student Achievements

Cello Success

Last week Chris Lenthall was awarded the Marguerite Swan Memorial Prize from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music for being the candidate who received the highest mark for his grade 7 cello exam during 2015, his was the best mark in the whole country for grade 7 last year. He received 143 out of a possible 150, with the pass mark being 100 and the distinction 130.
We've also just heard that he passed his grade 8 cello with distinction (he took this two weeks ago), and he already has his grade 8 practical musicianship with distinction.
Well done Chris!

Buana Ball

Buauna has been signed by Catford Cycling Club Equipe/Banks, is one of the only Under-23 Elite Cycling Teams in Britain.

Buauna is one of four Junior (under 18) riders who stood out from many other applicants. Attached is a link to the Team press release and to the rider profile page.

England Youth Darts
Jack Vincent was chosen to represent England Youth Darts Team in Wales and Denmark. This was a very big honour and a great achievement as he is only 14 years of age.
He recently returned from Denmark with 2 Bronze medals, 1 for Boys Pairs and 1 for Team Cup. They finished 4th overall which was a big achievement from last year. He will be attending many more tournaments over the coming months.
Good luck Jack!

Cycling News
On Sunday 31 May, Buauna Ball took part in the Doncaster Festival of Cycling criterium in a bunch of 80 riders. The 32 lap race around the centre of Doncaster started off fast with several people attempting to get away in the first few laps. Buauna used his strengths in his cornering ability to get away with 22 laps to go.
He graduall increased the distance between him and the peloton all the way up to 28 seconds and it wasn't until the last 5 laps when the peloton tried to close him down but it was too late. The lead riders only managed to close the gap down to 16 seconds by the time the chequered flag came.
Here is a link to the video of him coming across the line:

World Bell Ringing Award
Last year, Bedfordshire Young ringer attended the Ringing World National Youth Competition in Worcester.
I was one of the team members and we won for the 2nd year running. This is a picture of me with the trophy. It was an amazing day and it was great to see other young ringers from across the country.
